SM Department Store Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2010 Presentation

“Shoe Mart” has been a household name for as long as I can remember. I grew up going to SM City for the yearly back-to-school and holiday shopping.  Back then, going to SM means shopping for new pairs of shoes. SM after all, was known as “Shoe Mart” that time.

Today, SM Department Store has evolved from being the “Shoe Mart” I’ve come to be familiar with, to a complete department store, up to date with the changing fashion trends. So I was actually surprised to have been invited to the Philippine Fashion Week presentation of SM Department Store.

The fashion show presented SM Department store’s new collection of  ladies wear, accessories, and the latest shoes from the Parisian brand.

WOMEN’S SIGNATURE STYLE

The ladies wear collection consisting of Resort, Casual, Work and Evening are clothes that any woman can wear.

Resort Ladies Wear Collection at SM Department Store

RESORT brings the outdoor feel with exotic prints and embellishments that may be worn from the beach to the office

Casual Ladies Wear Collection at SM Department Store

CASUAL is a mix of different pieces from the basic, tailored and printed. One could play around the collections to mix and match them.

Work Ladies Wear Collection at SM Department Store

WORK are clothes to wear from an office meeting to an after-office event and/ or gathering.

Evening Ladies Wear Collection at SM Department Store

EVENING are pieces that would radiate evening elegance.
The ladies wear collection has something for every lifestyle, whether it be for the outgoing or  party-loving; to the laid back and relaxed; or for the corporate and  professional women.

WHAT WOMEN WANT
What outfit is complete without any accessories? The SM Department Store’s exclusive women’s accessory brand makes its runway debut. What Women Want, are accessory pieces to complement the ladies wear Resort, Casual, Work and Evening collection.
It’s a mix of classic designs that would surely create that sophisticated, stylish look.
There is the Gold Collection inspired by Cleopatra and the Egyptian look. The collection consists of bold bangles, link necklaces, edgy cuffs, stylish clutches, chic bib necklaces, and other fabulous accessories.
These are accessories that would put the little black dresses and plain wardrobe a notch higher from the plain and ordinary.
SM Department Store also launched its exclusive men’s accessories line, MSENSE. A collection of everyday essentials designed for men.

THE PARISIAN COLLECTION
The latest Parisian collection combined the tough, flexible and feminine with the Re-Belle with a Cause and Natural Collection.

Since it’s humble beginnings in 1958, SM Department store has been the household name in shopping for Filipinos. It has earned the loyalty of its customers regardless of age, gender and personal style.  The  SM Department Store’s Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2010 Presentation convinced me all the more that indeed, SM’s “got it all”. It was my first time to attend a much celebrated event like the Philippine Fashion Week, and it was such a feel-good experience to have been part of a fashion show from a brand name I’ve come to call a second home. For me SM has now become more than just a “shoe mart” because being a “TECH FATALE”, I know that SM Department Store has a lot more to offer for my ever changing needs and wants, both in fashion and lifestyle.

Philippine Fashion Week 2010: SM's Parisian, WWW, and Ladies' Wear

I remember the days when SM was where my mum took me to buy white socks, black shoes, and hair clips for the school season. It would always be crammed with people and they rarely had anything beyond your basic wardrobe staples. Over the years, they've expanded to include bigger, better brands in their department stores, and even developed their own in-house, SM-exclusive lines.

I don't know what I was expecting when I came in for Philippine Fashion Week's opening day to watch SM's Parisian, WWW, and ladies wear lines, but it certainly wasn't the sleek, polished show that awaited...

The Parisian shoe brand has been on my radar for a while now, because I have freakishly large (size 9-10) feet, and they're pretty much the only place that sells affordable large sizes (hello, Parisian Plus). Their designs are imminently wearable and quite comfortable, and my only lament used to be that they weren't as stylish/outlandish as People Are People or WADE.

Well, ladies, I'm proud to say that that is no longer the case:
When I saw this image in the press kit, I definitely did a double-take. Ballsy, ridiculously high shoes couldn't possibly sell in the numbers that SM needs to move to make their shoes affordable, right? Wrong again, haha. These gorgeous shoes are already out, (I checked yesterday), and there were definitely quite a lot of women eying the displays. These come in a variety of styles and colors, though these are definitely the stand-outs of the crowd. Prices play at approximately Php1,400 each, making these an amazing bargain!

SM also featured their new Resort, Casual, Work, and Evening collections for the season, and they're definitely playing to their strengths. Wearable, affordable, and with just the right amount of of sass, their latest designs are sure to be a hit off the runway.

(I have to have those black-and-white leggings, omg.)

WWW (What Women Want) is a great place to buy affordable accessories, and over the past year they've really been stepping up their game. When statement headbands started getting popular, they featured the crazy peacock feathers and the chiffon roses at a fraction of the price of the designer brands. Now they've got statement necklaces, large bangles, and some seriously good-looking clutches and bags. (Now if they would only carry those huge cocktail rings, haha.)

Their pieces provide great accents to their clothes and shoes, and I'm happy to point out that the Fashion Week pieces are already on sale.

In any case, I'm sure you're all ready to see these gorgeous pieces of the puzzle put together, so without further ado, here are my Fashion Week photos!

The first few minutes were spent featuring simple black outfits highlighting the gorgeous, to-die-for Parisian booties. I still can't believe I'm looking at SM shoes at this point, haha.
This gold pair of booties on the foreground model really caught my eye on the runway. The black comes with glints of silver instead of gold, but I prefer the tan/gold combination.
As the show progressed, the clothing got more complicated and the shoes began to take a step back. It's too bad that I don't have a better picture of the outfit on the left (above), because the top had such interesting details in mesh and glitter. The skirt was no slouch either, as it had some very interesting pattern work done in gold. The model on the right is wearing the white leggings from the press kit, and it looked even better in person than on screen!

There was a time when I wore nothing but black and white clothing, and when I saw how these looked on the runway, I remembered why. Black and white patterns provide such a classy finish, and whether you're wearing them as bottoms or as a dress, the results are equally striking.

There was also a smattering of Men's Wear throughout the show, and while the pieces were a little on the safe side, all of them were imminently wearable. On the other hand, I was immediately drawn to the dotted skirt on the model on the right. The way it hugs her figure while sassing it up with those lovely mini polka dot frills is simple adorable.

The next couple of dresses I chose for different reasons. The bandage dress on the right has been in style for a while now, and I've been hankering for one in this specific nude color. It's absolutely divine, and would be fun to accessorize with an outlandish necklace or a really loud bangle. The dress on the left is a gorgeous royal blue in real life, and I'm really liking the campy band uniform trims on the front. Very cute!

I think they really outdid themselves with the casual (and resort) wear, and I absolutely fell in love with that gorgeous dress on the right. It's perfect for, well, practically everything, really. Lol! Whether it's for lounging, walking, or even going out on a date, it would be perfect for any casual activity you can think of. The skirt on the left, on the other hand, is an absolutely dream. I've been so into florals lately, and the cut makes it office wearable. Handy!

I own exactly one pair of harem pants, and they're black and quite safe. The pair above is anything but safe, and they're a definite head-turner. I just love everything about that ensemble-- from the shoes to the top to her large mane of frizzy hair. I don't think I'd be able to pull it off with my non-stick figure, haha, but I definitely love the look. Now the dress on the right, on the other hand, I can definitely see myself wearing. I just love the burst of color, and the cut of the dress is very flattering to most figures.

These two outfits are part of the resort wear collection, and I'm really liking the bikini top and the zebra-print dress.

I couldn't resist putting in two shots of this gorgeous ensemble, as I really love how sexy that cover-up looks. The necklace accentuates the billowy white top, and the strappy wedges finish off the look. (Note: check out those gorgeous black harem pants on the model in the back. I love how billowy they are!)

These two are definite head-turners for the beach. The leopard print top and the gold sarong are a dream.

I'm a huge fan of blue fabric with gradations, and here they are at their finest. The blue bikini is no slouch either, and that Cleopatra-like necklace pops out like nobody's business.

Not a huge fan of ponchos, but these are definitely worth another look. That gorgeous green fabric is simply to-die-for, though if you're looking for less bright fare, the tan pattern on the left is certainly more subdued.

A resort collection is nothing without a bit of Boho chic, and I'm seriously loving those crazy bottoms on the right. Pair that with the lovely rainbow sandal and you've got an eye-popping winner. (If I was still in college, I'd totally wear this, haha.) Also loving the black and white dress on the left, as it's got some really interesting trim that you only notice upon closer look. Love that neckline, as well!

And as a reward for making it to the bottom of this incredibly long entry, here's a shot of the Men's resort wear, haha! It's not really very unique, but I'm sure my readers will still enjoy looking at the, uh, fashion. ;)

All in all, I thought that SM's holiday collection was very well done. There's something for everybody, and the pops of color really make some of the pieces stand out. I've already purchased some Parisian shoes from the resort collection (hello, floral wedges), and surprise, surprise-- I actually fit into a size 9 in their Teens section. Lol!

Hope you all enjoyed my coverage of the 2010 SM Collection. Stay beautiful, ladies!

SM Department Store --A Fashion Haven For Fashionistas

Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2010 --sounds glamorous and fab don't you think? And yes it really is. Hello! 7 days of pure fashion is HEAVEN! Luckily, I was asked to cover for this year's fashion week for Cosmo.ph. On the first day of PFW, I watched two shows. But wow, I admit that I really enjoyed SM's fashion show!

I've always been familiar with SM Department Store; and honestly, I never shopped there until two years ago, my cousin wore this really pretty heels from SM. After checking out the place, I went crazy over the wide variety of clothes, shoes, accessories! There are just so many stylish pieces to choose from! Not to mention, the price is very affordable.

The SM PFW Fashion Show went smoothly. The fashion show itself fed the audience with drool-worthy pieces fit for occasions like last-hurrah-for-summer, back to school, work and parties! My eyes just grew wider and wider each time a model comes out from backstage sashaying the SM items. While watching the show, I took down notes of the items that caught my eye, and boy, I came up with a list! In my mind also I already imagined a couple of looks that I can wear with those items. Say, this black & white nautical striped blazer (I am a BIG FAN OF STRIPES!) goes well with skinny jeans, simple ballet flats and a cute-sy floral top. Perfect for school! While this royal blue flowy tank with a print of a bird looks hot with white jeans and those gray Parisian zipper booties! Really glam for cocktails with friends.

Not only do I find the items for ladies very eye-catching, but also the men's collection -and no, not because of the hot bodies that strutted down the runway in candy colored trunks! I have two younger brothers who are slowly beginning to become fashion conscious. I can imagine them in those clothes looking very neat, presentable and fasyon.

Fashion has always been a part of me but I don't have enough budget to buy luxurious pieces. I am a student, and I don't earn as much yet; but because of SM, I get to buy clothes, shoes and accessories that are very fashionable and has this universal taste that of course, fits within a student's budget. Every time I visit SM, I never leave empty-handed; there's always this funky ring or casual yet trendy top that grabs my attention. I saw how SM's collection evolved over the years, and I must say, they just keep getting better and better! And like they say, "we've got it all for you!"

WWW | What Women Want - SM Accesories

It was last May 26, 2010 when WWW (SM Brand for accessories) had a runway debut  together with other SM Department Store’s products.

WWW presented their stunning collection on the runway during the Philippines Fashion Week. Part of their awesome ala Cleopatra collection are some lustrous cuffs and bangles, bedazzling earrings, beaded necklaces and some vintage inspired accessories. Oh God, it made me salivating.

The accessories of WWW are something to lust over, especially those ala Cleopatra style, which immediately caught my attention. I am a big fan of vintage inspired design and loud earrings. My frustration always in bangles and cuffs because I have thin frame. Fortunately, WWW caters accessories for those with thin frames like me. I love it!

I went home with some WWW accessories, therefore, no more salivating, bits and pieces from WWW are ready to flaunt!

I’m a super fan of hoop earrings, before most of my earrings are silver, but this time I want gold.
Bangles and cuffs are my frustration, most of the design in the market are for those women with big bone.

Cocktail fashion ring is the top trend these days in the fashion industry, which screams glamour, prestige, and style. This ring would definitely works almost in any outfit.

Pearl is a classic accessories of women, a symbol of youth and beauty. Pearl earrings makes you look stunning and elegant instantly. Great accessories for evening and formal affairs.

 Just some…

The Philippine Fashion Week 2010 | SM Department Store

Last May 26, 2010, SM Department Store, the largest chain of shopping malls in the Philippines participated in the Philippine Fashion Week that happens every year. It was held in SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.

It was another year for the SM Department Store to present in a runway their latest fashion collection, from clothing, shoes and accessories. Truly, SM Department Store has always something new to offer to their market, affordable and fashionable items that customers can’t resist.

Like I have said Shoe Mart has never run out of something new to share, their latest collection on Shoes, the PARISIAN brand had an amazing revamp, from casual shoes to a very rebel-chic design, it’s awesome! These shoes would definitely something to lust over.

Aside from the shoes, SM had shown their latest Collection on Ladies’ Wear. It consists of resort, casual, work and evening wear. The Resort Collection is very feminine, it has an exotic print and embellished pieces that you can wear in the beach or beyond. However, the Casual and Work Collection are just basic but with unexpected twist, it’s fabulous, fashionable and playful. Women can still wear them even after six. Their Evening Wear Collection is glamorous and sophisticated, simply exudes evening elegance.

On the other hand, WWW (what women wants), a SM accessories brand and MSENSE, a brand for a modern guy had a runway debut last night. WWW presented bedazzling blings, stunning earrings, lustrous cuff, lace clutches, exquisite necklaces and more, while MSENSE showed some men accessories such as bags, caps, belts and the like.

Indeed, SM Department Store is very passionate and driven to responds to the changing needs of their customers.

The Philippine Fashion Week 2010 Opening Night

May 26, 2010 - Media personalities, models, bloggers, and fashion aficionados came together once again to witness the opening of the largest fashion event in the country - The Philippine Fashion Week.
It was a dream come true for a reluctant fashionista like me to attend The Philippine Fashion Week. Fashionistas and guests alike were at their best "Fashionably Chic" attire. I even spotted female celebrities like Ms. Desiree del Valle and Mrs. Christine Jacob-Sandejas all glammed up for the night. And oh boy, I was so lucky to occupy one of the front seats in the show.
SM Department Store officially started the fashion week showcasing its latest collections in three (3) categories: Ladies Wear, Accessories, and Shoes. Through the years, SM provided us with stylish yet practical fashion finds. Now they've even raised it a notch higher featuring pieces for resort, casual, work, and evening for the ladies wear. These collections mirror the very lifestyle of a modern Filipina who works at her office 5-6 times a week, parties with her girlfriends on Friday nights, spends time with her loved ones during weekends, and on vacations she goes to the beach to relax and have fun. Certainly, SM understands that SHE needs to accomplish them all in style.

RESORT. On focus were an impressive display of resort clothes in solid colors, floral, stripes, and sexy animal prints in flowing fabrics. We can enjoy the beach all year round with bikini tops and bottoms, tank tops, wraps and skirts, cover-ups and tunics, and beach pants.

CASUAL. The casual wear collection exudes total femininity with an array of playful dresses in rainbow colors and abstract prints. These are perfect clothes for shopping time, movie dates, and coffee with friends.

WORK. The office collection consisted mostly of collared blouses and ruffled shirts, high-waisted slacks and skirts, plus glamorous frocks - all in neutral colors.
EVENING. Pinays work hard but they play harder! The evening collection in basic black and white is especially created for intimate dinners, cocktails, late night parties, and clubbing.

If you've been wondering what brand of gorgeous shoes the models wore at the event, well it's none other than "Parisian". Yes you've read that right! Gone were the old-fashioned sandals with thick heels your granny or your mother used to wear. After taking on a 360-degree turn and having their debut last October 2009, Parisian shoes stepped out in style again this 2010 for more daring collections - Re-Belle with a Cause, Natural Palette in Beige, and Natural Palette in Blush. Wearing these "revamped" shoes will give you sexy gams in no time!

WWW (What Women Want) accessories also made its runway debut. Bib necklaces, Cleopatra cuff bracelets, and classic pieces from their Gold Collection ruled the runway for accentuating each outfit perfectly. Also featured was MSENSE (Men's Accessories) consisting of fedora hats, functional bags, scarves, and shades. Both are exclusive SM accessories brands.
I had my eyes on this laced top & gold ballerina skirt combo. I think it's time for shopping! Ciao!
