Fashion Week has a New Home in Manila
In New York, Fashionweek is synonymous with Bryant Park, where iconic event has been held for many years. In Australia, the Circular Quay is the Fashionweek destination. In Manila, Fashionweek has found a new home at the SMX Convention Center at the SM Mall of Asia complex in Roxas Boulevard.
“I had always wanted Manila Fashionweek to have a venue that would be in the same league as Bryant Park of the Circular Quay.” Says Fashionweek’s Joey Espino.” I also wanted the same kind of association these venues had with the event.
When he saw the SMX Convention Center upon arriving from New York, he immediately knew that this would be a perfect venue for the Manila Fashionweek.
Envisioned as the premiere meeting destination in Asia, the SMX Convention Center is the largest private meeting facility in the Philippines. The 3 story 46,000 square meter world class building consists of open exhibition areas, multi functional halls, and flexible meeting rooms.
Designed for premiere local and international events, it offers highly technological facilities from wireless, high speed internet to fiber optic cabling, and extensive teleconferencing options that allow for all kinds of events from high tech interactive trade shows to expositions to concert to exhibits, and receptions.
The high ceiling of SMX’s exhibit halls, meeting rooms and function rooms asllow the staging of fashion shows with much flexibility. The venue’s size has also made it possible to stage shows at SMX without having to leave the building, says Joey.
“I was happy that there was a lot of fashion buzz and energy at SMX similar to the way it has been in other venues abroad.”
SMX’s proximity to the SM Mall of Asia also allowed some of the shows featuring its tenants to be showcased at the mall. This way, Fashioweekwas able to reach a larger market, enhancing the fashion experience.
Verry fittingly, Manila’s premiere fashion event has found a home at what is envisioned to be premiere meeting destination.
